Our February meeting will be two fold: 1) A survey to discover what the members would like to see and experience from the club, and 2) a presentation on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as it pertains to honey bees.
The largest divide in honey bee management concerns the ‘treatment free” group and the “treatment” group. Adding chemicals into honey bee colonies does not meld well with those of us struggling to support nature. So it comes down to NO CHEMICAL treatment longing for genetic mutations to evolve warding off pest and diseases or dumping chemicals to mitigate those pests and diseases.
BUT there is a middle road that is included in all beekeeping books, but rarely understood or practiced.
